1. About these terms
These terms and conditions apply to all bookings, sessions, parties, memberships, workshops, and purchases made with Messy Mates. By booking or attending, you agree to these terms. Please read them before your visit.
2. Bookings & payment
Stay & Play Stay & Play sessions are drop-in and do not require advance booking. However entry is subject to availability and capacity on the day. Payment is required on arrival.
Classes, workshops & Little Wonders These sessions require advance booking. Your place is only confirmed once payment has been received in full. Bookings can be made online via our website.
Birthday parties Party bookings require a non-refundable 15% deposit at the time of booking to secure your date. The remaining balance is due no later than 7 ays before your party date. Party bookings are subject to our separate party terms, provided at the time of enquiry.
3. Cancellations & refunds
Classes & workshops
Cancellations made 24 hours before the session: full credit or refund (excluding any booking fees).
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice: no refund or credit will be issued.
If Messy Mates cancels a session, you will receive a full refund or credit.
Stay & Play Drop-in session entry fees are non-refundable once you have entered the studio.
Memberships Membership terms, including cancellation notice periods, are outlined at the time of purchase. Please refer to your membership agreement.
Birthday parties Deposits are non-refundable. If you need to reschedule, please give us as much notice as possible — we'll do our best to find an alternative date, subject to availability.
4. Supervision & safety
A parent or caregiver must accompany their child(ren) and remain on-site for the duration of all sessions. Messy Mates staff are not responsible for the supervision of children.
You are responsible for ensuring your child is supervised at all times. Children must remain within the designated play areas.
All materials used at Messy Mates are child-safe and age-appropriate. If your child has any known allergies or sensitivities, please inform us before participating.
5. Health & wellbeing
Please do not bring your child to Messy Mates if they are unwell, including if they have a contagious illness, fever, vomiting, or diarrhoea in the 48 hours prior to their session. This is to protect other children and families in the studio.
If your child becomes unwell during a session, we may ask you to leave. No refund will be given in this circumstance.
6. Studio conduct
We want Messy Mates to be a safe, welcoming space for everyone.
We ask that all visitors:
Treat staff, other families, and the studio with respect
Supervise their children at all times
Follow any reasonable instructions from Messy Mates staff
Messy Mates reserves the right to ask any visitor to leave if their behaviour is unsafe or disruptive. No refund will be issued in this case.
7. Damage & liability
Messy Mates is not liable for any loss, damage, or injury sustained during your visit, except where required by law. You are responsible for any damage caused by your child(ren) to studio property or equipment.
While we take every care to ensure the studio is safe, Messy Mates does not accept liability for personal belongings brought into the studio. Please leave valuables at home.
8. Photography & social media
You are welcome to take photos and videos of your own child during sessions for personal use.
From time to time, Messy Mates may take photos or videos in the studio for use on our website and social media. If you do not wish your child to be photographed, please let a staff member know on arrival.
By attending without raising this concern, you consent to incidental photography in which your child may appear.
9. Memberships
Membership terms are provided separately at the time of sign-up, including session inclusions, pricing, payment frequency, and cancellation notice requirements. These Terms & Conditions apply in addition to any membership-specific terms.
10. Changes to sessions
Messy Mates reserves the right to modify, cancel, or reschedule sessions due to low numbers, staff availability, events beyond our control, or other operational reasons. We will provide as much notice as possible in these situations.
11. Online purchases & digital products
For retail products and digital downloads purchased through our website, orders are processed at the time of payment. Digital products are non-refundable once accessed or downloaded. Physical product returns are handled in accordance with the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under New Zealand consumer law.
